BUSINESS LIFE SKILLS CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

The Business Life Skills Certificate program is designed to provide an understanding to the student of how business works and the expectations the business will have on you the employee. The course will give you a solid foundation of understanding how you fit into the world of business as an employee. These are essential skills for the workplace. There are 5 courses in this series and on completion a certificate of accomplishment will be issued.

The program includes the following components courses. These courses can be taken as part of the certificate program of independently.

Course 1: Business Life Skills Certificate Program

Part 1: Introduction to the Work Environment, is a 3 part series.

What do we expect to learn from this workshop?

  • What components is business really made up of?

  • Understanding of the many components that make up a business.

  • Understand the importance of knowledge about business in order to get the job / career you are looking for.

Part 2:  Culture & Where do I fit in?

What do we expect to learn from this workshop?

  • What is the business culture?

  • Where do I fit in?

  • How important is my resume?

Assessing the job versus my expertise / education / experience

What can I expect on day 1and what should I take with me on my first day?

Part 3: Hiring Documentation & Work Ethics

In this workshop we will cover the finer details of the hiring process and your general work ethics.

What is a hiring package: What is an orientation; What is work site training; Will I need to get a D&A test?

Ongoing Work Ethics: Core Values. Professionalism, Dress for success and Customer Service.

Information: This 3 part series is the first step in attaining your Business Life Skills Certificate

Duration: 24 hrs of live online training or it can be taken online and self-paced.

The Business Life Skills Certificate Program also includes four other very important subjects that take a deeper look inside the business giving the worker a new perspective on the work place.

Course 2: Communication in the Workplace

  • The ability to effectively communicate with others is one of the most powerful tools for personal and/or workplace success

  • Most people are challenged by the many day-to-day interactions with co-workers, family and friends

  • Emotion, communication and conflict are present in all human interactions and affects each of us in different ways

  • Everyone manages emotion, communication and conflict from habit – patterns and styles developed early in life and over time

Course 3: Working with Others in the Workplace (8 Hours Live online or Self-study available)

  • To understand that the work place is multi-cultural and multi ethnic environment.

  • Getting a glimpse of what it’s like to work with others in the work environment

  • Qualities you will need to succeed working with others.

Course 4: Working with Money (8 Hours Live online or Self-study available)

  • To understand that there are many jobs in a business that involve the taking of cash, debit or credit payments from clients

  • Getting a glimpse of what it’s like to work with money and the associated responsibility.

  • What you need to know about handling money at work.

Course 5: Leadership the Basics (8 Hours Live online or Self-study available)

This workshop embraces Leadership and defines for us what it takes to be a leader, a person who we would follow, and what it takes to be a good leader.  We will examine the attributes of a good leader and examine ourselves to see how we can become better leaders in business and in the business environment. Being in charge does not make you a good leader – it simply makes you the person in charge – you may have authority but not leadership. What we wish to achieve is both through education and training and mentorship.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

The Entrepreneurship Certificate program is designed to provide the new and existing Entrepreneur with the skills to become successful in business. If you are a new entrepreneur or an existing entrepreneur then this course is for you. It is designed to assist the small business owner or start-up.

The following courses make up the full certificate program, these can be taken as individual stand-alone courses or in the series leading to the full certificate in Entrepreneurship.

SALES AND SELLING STRATEGIES: (8 Hours live online or self-paced)

This course deals with the planning and execution of sales.

  • Subjects include:

  • Selling strategies

  • Sales prospecting

  • Finding customers

  • Qualifying Strategies

  • Presenting Strategies

 

RECORDS MANAGEMENT: (8 Hours live online or self-paced)

  • Understand the purpose of record keeping and the essential management of recording information for a business.

  • Be able to effectively describe the production or service delivery of your company and the records/forms attached to the points necessary.

  • Start a list of required forms & templates for your business

  • Be able to describe your record keeping for your business

This workshop will introduce a prospective buyer of a small business to determine if the business is viable. Through discussion we will introduce, financial due diligence – what’s involved, company policies; financial, sales, warehousing, safety, regulations, property, leases, licenses, lawyers, insurance, marketing and more.

TRADE MATH: (8 Hours live online or self-paced)

This workshop is designed to give the participant an understanding of the math that will be required to succeed in most occupations where mathematics is required.

Today there are many jobs where you will need to use measurement to determine area, square footage, length, depth, and diameter. These calculations will assist you to determine knowing how many pavers would be required to pave an area as well as other calculations, which include estimating soil requirements for ground coverage, or lengths of pipe, heights of fencing posts etc.

The course will assist you to understand these basic math skills to improve your knowledge and ability to work in many exciting jobs.

 

INTRODUCTION TO JANITORIAL OR CUSTODIAL WORK (8 Hours live online or self-paced)
